Eau Claire (WQOW) -- For just the second time in the last ten years, the UW-Eau Claire football team sent the Homecoming crowd home without a win.
The Blugolds fought back from a ten point deficit to force overtime against UW-Stevens Point, but a turnover the opening possession of overtime led to a 23-17 loss to the Pointers. The defeat drops Eau Claire to 0-5 on the season.
While the results haven't been in their favor, with half of the season left to play, the team says they will continue to battle.
"We can't look at our record," says junior quarterback Mark Munger. "Our record doesn't define who we are as kids, as coaches. We just have to go out there and play hard. What happens on the field, people can judge us that way. We're going to look at our record at the end of the year and see how we did. It hasn't started out how we wanted to or expected to, we just have to play hard, play with each and every one of our guys."
