Semi accident ties up traffic


Traffic was tied up on Eau Claire's west side when two semi trucks collided today

It happened on Highway 312 near the intersection with Highway 12 and Texaco drive. 

The Eau Claire County Sheriffs office says a semi was turning off of 312 when it was hit by a semi heading east on 312.

Neither driver was seriously hurt.

Both eastbound lanes and one west bound lane were closed for nearly three hours.  Deputies are still trying to figure out which driver failed to yield.


PRESS RELEASE (Eau Claire County Sheriff's Office) - On Monday, October 14, 2013 at 11:45 A.M. the Eau Claire County Sheriff's Office responded to a crash involving two tractor-trailer units at the intersection of Hwy 312 and Hwy 12 West. Preliminary investigation indicates that a tractor-trailer unit making a left turn from westbound Hwy 312 to Truax Lane was struck by a tractor-trailer unit traveling eastbound on Hwy 312. After striking the westbound tractor trailer unit, the eastbound tractor trailer unit also struck a passenger car that was waiting in the westbound left turn lane.

None of the drivers involved sustained serious injuries. Eastbound traffic was diverted from Hwy 312 to Truax Lane. One westbound lane remained open. Both tractor–trailer units were towed from the scene. Highway 312 was re-opened at 2:40 P.M. The Eau Claire County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Eau Claire Police Department, The Wisconsin State Patrol and the Township Fire Department.
