Madison (WQOW) -- Badgers head coach Gary Andersen says Monday he's optimistic Jared Abbrederis will be able to play Saturday at Illinois.
Abbrederis spent the second half of the Northwestern game on the sideline in street clothes, after sustaining a head injury in the first half. Andersen says how Abbrederis progresses over the next forty-eight hours will determine his availability for the game against the Illini.
Wisconsin was able to throw for 241 yards in the win over the Wildcats. Andersen says he's proud of the way guys like Jeff Duckworth, Jordan Fredrick and Alex Erickson stepped up.
"It's great to see because there's been enough said about them, how there's Jared and the rest of them," says Andersen, "now I feel like they deserve to get the recognition in a very positive way. It's moving in their direction. Now, they just have to keep it up."
"I've always had a lot of confidence in those guys," says Wisconsin sophomore quarterback Joel Stave, "we've been throwing to them throughout camp, throughout practice, a long time. I know they're good players. Everyone else knows they're good players. I think we've got a lot of guys at the receiver position that can do a lot for us."
Wisconsin at Illinois is a 7:00 P.M. kick down in Champaign.
