Waukesha County D.A. enters race for Attorney General

WAUKESHA (WKOW) -- The first candidate is officially in the race to replace Wisconsin's outgoing Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen.

Waukesha County District Attorney Brad Schimel put his name into the race Monday.

The Republican says his top priorities are targeting heroin use and internet crimes. He says tackling both will make the state safer.

"The citizens of the state of Wisconsin can count on me to put their needs first and work tirelessly to ensure their state is a great place to live, work and raise a family." Schimel said.

Van Hollen announced last week that he would not seek re-election next year.
