Madison woman brings awareness to rare brain disorder

MADISON (WKOW) -- Jennifer Tracy has a disorder she says, some doctors don't even know about.

It's called Chiari Malformation and it's a brain disorder that can cause severe headaches, fatigue, muscle weakness, dizziness, nausea, and in some cases, paralysis.

Jennifer says some people have these symptoms and simply don't find out until later they have a brain disorder. She encourages people with those symptoms to ask their doctor to check for Chiari Malformation.

In the meantime, Jennifer has gotten involved in a Chiari Sock Swap with others who have the disorder as a way to connect. Many people with Chiari can't leave their homes very much, so many of them wear socks all the time. The sock swap, started in Facebook by a woman from Indiana, has helped Jennifer and many others cope with the symptoms.
