Two more bison die at local zoo

Chippewa Falls (WQOW) - Two more bison have died at a local zoo. The Irvine Park Zoo in Chippewa Falls says the deaths are blamed on a virus spread by sheep that once shared a fence-line with the bison.

Four bison have now passed away.  The parks and rec director tells WQOW News 18 it's going to take a while for the virus to run its course.

In the meantime, the park is open, but he's asking people to stay away from the bison.  He says it's stressful for the bison, and when there's a lot of people around the sick animals are reluctant to be led by staff into corrals.
