MADISON, WI (WKOW) -- Waunakee's dynamic tennis twins bring home their first ever state championship title at the WIAA Girls Tennis State Championships at Madison's Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
Seniors Shelby and Tilly Chorney had never competed in high school doubles until this year. They each had found success as singles players, but neither had advanced to the championship round alone.
The Chorneys faced Homestead in the final round. Homestead took the first set 6-3. But the Chorneys took the second set 6-3 and the third set 6-2 to win the title.
The last time a Madison-area team brought home the Division 1 doubles tennis state championship was in 1998 by a Madison Memorial team.
