Challenger Burke says Gov. Walker's tax cuts not enough

MADISON (WKOW) -- Gov. Scott Walker's only declared challenger in the next gubernatorial election says the governor's tax cuts aren't enough.

Gov. Walker signed a bill into law Sunday that will cut property taxes by $100 million, or about $13 on the average home this year.

Mary Burke, former Trek Bicycle executive and Democratic candidate for governor, released the following statement Sunday about the law:

"I'm all for property tax cuts, but let's be clear what happened here.  This administration cut school funding by $800 million, causing property taxes to go up all over Wisconsin. Offering the average homeowner a mere $13 back to cover Walker's property tax hike really doesn't help Wisconsin families at all.  We need a new approach that protects taxpayers, improves our schools, and creates jobs and opportunity across Wisconsin.  As Governor I'll focus on solving our challenges by bringing people together and focusing on common sense solutions - not politics."
