Wolf hunt quota fast approaching

Eau Claire (WQOW) -- This year's state wolf hunt is not even a week old and hunters are already a third of the way to reaching the DNR's quota.

As of today hunters and trappers have taken 85 wolves. The quota this year is 251 and hunters are already half-way to the quotas in three zones in the state: zone one in northern Wisconsin, zone two in the eastern part of the state, and zone five, which includes parts of Chippewa, Eau Claire, Clark and Jackson counties.

The DNR says trappers have also taken twice as many wolves as gun hunters and one wolf was taken with a bow.
