Restaurant donates all sales to Kids 'N Cops

Altoona (WQOW) - Area law enforcement officers were busy busing tables at a local restaurant Monday, to help local kids in need.

Altoona Family Restaurant is donating 100% of its sales Monday to Kids 'N Cops.  Eau Claire, Altoona, and Eau Claire County officers were there to help out.  Kids 'N Cops pairs local children with an officer to go shopping for things they might need, like winter clothing.  The event helps keep kids warm and also helps them bond with law enforcement.

"We rely on the community to be our eyes and ears and help us out, and if we can get kids when they're very young... early on... to understand that police are their friends, we're here to help them.  They understand that they can be a positive influence in the community," said Officer Kyle Roder with the Eau Claire Police Department.

Last year's fundraiser brought in $7,000 for the program.  The money helped officers shop with more than 100 children in our area.  Monday's fundraiser topped last year's event, raising more than $8,000.
