Former DNR Secretary Frank will not run for Attorney General

MADISON (WKOW) -- Count former Department of Natural Resources Secretary Matt Frank out of the group thinking about running for attorney general.

Frank says he's not prepared to commit the next five to 10 years to the job should he win the election next November.

Frank served as both DNR and Corrections secretary under former Governor Jim Doyle, a Democrat. He also spent 22 years in the state Justice Department as an assistant attorney general and head of the agency's legal division.

Current attorney general J.B. Van Hollen announced earlier this month he would not run for a third term.

Waukesha County District Attorney Brad Schimel, a Republican, and state Rep. Jon Richards, a Milwaukee Democrat, have both announced plans to run for the job.
