Changes in state aid to WI schools

MADISON (WKOW) -- More than half of school districts in Wisconsin will receive more state aid this school year compared to last year.

The Department of Public Instruction says districts will receive nearly $4.4 billion, which is up more than $87 million from last school year.

That's good news for some districts in Dane County like Middleton-Cross Plains and Verona.

Middleton-Cross Plains will receive nearly $10 million, up more than 22% from last year.

Verona will receive nearly $24 million, up 18%.

It's a different story for Madison schools.

They'll get more than $52 million, down nearly 11% from last year.
