Wisconsin Brewing set to open Friday in Verona

VERONA (WKOW) -- The latest craft brewery in southern Wisconsin plans to open its tap room on Friday.

Wisconsin Brewing Co. plans to start by selling four beers at Verona restaurants and bars, before expanding to establishments in 22 counties, and liquor and grocery stores in November.

Wisconsin craft brewers have traditionally started small, with limited investment capital. But Wisconsin Brewing Co. is starting big and planning to get bigger. The company raised $8 million from investors, and by 2015 plans to spend more than $12 million to install bottling and packaging machines, work that is currently outsourced. The brewery's long-term goal is to make 250,000 barrels per year, making it twice as big as the state's current largest craft brewer.
