New Auburn man sentenced for beating his wife

Barron County (WQOW) - A New Auburn man, who beat his wife, is going to spend the next decade behind bars.

Tuesday, Troy Birkenmeier was sentenced to 10 years in prison.  In June of 2012, Stacy Birkenmeier was severely beaten at home in New Auburn.  Her two kids said their step-father, Troy, came home around midnight and the couple started arguing.  They later heard several loud thumps on a wooden floor.

In August of last year, doctors said they believed Stacy would remain in a persistent vegetative state for the rest of her life.
