WI Dairy News: WI cheese to go

MADISON (WKOW) -- Food carts and mobile restaurants are becoming increasingly popular as another avenue for consumers to grab a great meal, and some venues are serving up Wisconsin cheese in a big way!

Jessica Wartenweiler and her business partner Kayla Zeal of Monroe got their idea for the business in college. Now the Curd Girl Cart serves up locally made cheese curds to people who may not have access to Wisconsin's favorite treat!

"We just started up in August, but we've had a couple people come up to us and say, 'Oh this is my first time trying cheese curds'," said Wartenweiler. "It's a good feeling especially when they do the woo…stringy cheese; that's the best!"

In Milwaukee, the Gouda Girls Truck, serving gourmet grilled cheese, got their start 3 seasons ago and are a huge hit!

"They take it out the window, and they pick it up and they look at it, and they smell it, and you can see them being happy, and they take that bite, and the cheese kind of oozes out and they're just like in heaven for that little moment, and you think, I was able to do that!"
