Governor weighs in on UW-Stout's program announcement

Menomonie (WQOW) - UW-Stout makes a decision that could separate itself from other schools and the governor says he loves it.

Governor Walker spoke at UW-Stout's manufacturing conference on Wednesday.  Stout has announced plans to add three engineering degree programs:  mechanical, electrical and chemical.  "We are heavily dependent on manufacturing and we are going to be even more dependent as the economy grows... and so for this campus to take on even more degrees in that area, it would be a tremendous boost for us," said Gov. Walker.

If those degrees are approved, they would become available for the first time in the state, north of Madison.
