Elderly woman found dead after duplex fire

SHOREWOOD (WKOW) -- An elderly woman has been found dead following a fire in her suburban Milwaukee duplex.

North Shore Fire Department officials say it's not yet known whether the 90-year-old woman died before the fire started, or because of it.

Fire Chief Robert Whitaker tells WISN-TV the fire started in the kitchen and engulfed the rear of the home in Shorewood. The victim lived in the bottom unit of the duplex. No one else was injured.
