Judge orders mental exam for suspect in 3-county crime spree

GRANT COUNTY (WKOW) -- The man accused in a two-day, three-county crime spree pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect on Thursday.

36-year-old James Kruger made that plea on six felony charges including armed robbery, kidnapping and attempted homicide in Grant County.

He's charged in Dane, Grant and Iowa counties.
 
A judge ordered Kruger to undergo a competency exam.
