EVANSVILLE (WKOW) -- An investigation to find a missing Fitchburg woman leads authorities to an Evansville home.

Rock County Sheriff's Office is conducting a death investigation at a home on the 12,000 block of Highway 14 near Evansville. The Fitchburg Police Department has information that a missing woman, Aprina Paul, 18, may have died at the house.

Authorities say the man who lives at the home is in custody. Nathan Middleton, 29, was questioned by police regarding the investigation and is now being held in the Rock County Jail on a probation violation. He has not been charged in this case.

Investigators were searching the property since about 5 p.m. on Friday, digging and collecting evidence. Officials say they've recovered significant evidence during the search, but would not elaborate. Samples have been sent to Madison for analysis.

"Right now, we've just done the grounds and the shed area," says Sheriff Robert Spoden. "What we'll be doing in the very near future is, we will actually begin doing a thorough search of the interior of the residence. That will take through most of today if not until the evening and [Sunday]."

Family members say Middleton moved into the house about three weeks ago. About a year ago, he had been serving a seven-year sentence for armed robbery.

Officials say Middleton's girlfriend and her young child were also living at the house. The two are both OK.
