2500 Muskies released into Lake Wissota

Lake Wissota (WQOW) - Your chances of catching a fish at an area lake are higher now thanks to two outdoor clubs.

The Chippewa Rod and Gun Club and the 1st chapter of Muskies Incorporated released twenty five hundred Leech Lake muskies into Lake Wissota.

This is the seventh time the two groups have released muskies into the lake. Organizers say that the release will help provide anglers with more big fish to catch.

"The reason we're doing this is because we've been told that the Leech Lake strain grow faster," says Joe Heil from the 1st chapter of muskies incorporated. So we'll have more trophy fish faster. So that's what we're experimenting with."

The stocking cost the clubs about $30,000 total.
