Sawyer County (Press Release) - On Halloween night, several law enforcement agencies from Sawyer County teamed up with agents from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, Division of Probation & Parole to check on sex offenders in Sawyer County to ensure that they were adhering to their Halloween restrictions.

The residences of 18 registered sex offenders were checked by the teams.  As a result of the checks, five offenders were found to be in violation of their restrictions.  Some of the offenders were found to have Halloween decorations, candy or other indications that they were participating in the trick-or-treat activities.  Three offenders were arrested on the spot and warrants were issued for two offenders.

A number of sex offenders were surprised to see law enforcement paired up with Probation & Parole Agents at their door on Halloween night. This is another great example of how law enforcement is working together to make our county a safer place to live. The agencies involved in the detail were the Sawyer County Sheriff's Department, the LCO Police Department, the City of Hayward Police Department and the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, Division of Probation & Parole.
