UPDATED PRESS RELEASE:

At 7:46 a.m., November 4th 2013, St. Croix County Dispatch received a phone call indicating that there was a body of a male laying on the ground below the water tower, which was located behind the New Richmond Fire Department.

The deceased male was transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office, where an autopsy was performed.  It was determined from the autopsy that age of the deceased male was somewhere between his early to mid teens, approximately 5'8, 156 pounds, green eyes and short brown hair.

Working with this information, the New Richmond School District was contacted and assisted officials in trying to identify the deceased male.  Throughout the day, Detectives from the New Richmond Police Department and the St. Croix County Sheriff's Department followed-up on possible leads provided by the New Richmond High School and the New Richmond Middle School.

By mid afternoon, Detectives were unable to identify the deceased male.  The investigation expanded into Polk County and Somerset. Polk County Sheriff's Department and the Somerset Police Department assisted in the investigation and started making inquires in the various school districts in their jurisdiction, to possibly identify any missing juveniles that matched the description of our deceased male.

Later in the day, based on information provided by the New Richmond High School, Detectives were able to identify the deceased male as being 14 years old, from New Richmond and was a freshman at the New Richmond High School.

At this time, the family of the 14 year old has been contacted.  Assisting in the notification was a Police Chaplin from the St. Croix County Chaplin's Program.

A Provisional Report from the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office indicates that death occurred from "multiple traumatic injuries due to probable jump from height."

No foul play is suspected at this time.  This incident remains under investigation.
