Mayor, city council members set to face recall election in Glenwood City

Glenwood City (WQOW) - The signatures are in and they have been verified and now, Glenwood City looks to be on the verge of a recall election.

Last month we told you that a citizens group had collected signatures to force a recall election of the mayor and two city council members. The debate centers on a possible frac sand mine being planned near the high school. Currently, the land is not part of Glenwood City, but it could be annexed. When the city council tabled a referendum on the annexation, the citizens group started a recall effort. The city clerk says they gathered enough valid signatures. Thursday night the city council will be presented with those signatures. Candidates will have ten days to challenge the petition. If not, the members will face a recall election December 17th.
