UW-Eau Claire to offer students free nicotine patches

Eau Claire (WQOW) - UW-Eau Claire is arming students with a free way to kick the habit.

Student health services has been given a grant from the American Lung Association.  The money will be used to give students nicotine patches for free.

"We're hoping that this will get more students in using our tobacco cessation programs and help them with the progress of their plans," said Katie Wilson a health instructor with student health services.

Health services says, 15-percent of the student population uses tobacco in some form. The $840 grant allowed student health services to buy close to forty boxes of patches.
