Report shows WI achievement gap worst in nation

MADISON (WKOW) – New national test results show a troubling achievement gap in Wisconsin.

A national report released on Thursday by the National Assessment of Educational Progress shows Wisconsin's achievement gap between white and black students was the highest or widest in the county in both math and reading for fourth and eighth graders.

Eighth graders reading scores for African American students in Wisconsin were the lowest of any state.  The number wasn't much better for fourth graders.

Overall, Wisconsin students posted scores that put them ahead of the nation in math.
