Judge Deininger gives first TV interview since GAB ouster on Capitol City Sunday

Posted:

MADISON (WKOW) -- Judge David Deininger and Rep. Mark Pocan (D-WI-2) are the featured guests on Capitol City Sunday this weekend.

Judge Deininger gives his first television interview since Gov. Scott Walker withdrew his nomination to the Government Accountability Board.  Deininger's served on the GAB since 2011, but was never confirmed by the Senate.  Gov. Walker's administration told Deininger that Senate Republicans refused to confirm any GAB candidates unless he was removed.

"I don't know the reasoning.  I don't know the discussions.  I have as many questions as anyone as to why the decision was made," said Deininger.

Congressman Pocan talks about the problems with healthcare.gov and the chances of ENDA passing the House of Representatives.  The U.S. Senate passed the legislation in a bipartisan fashion earlier this week.  It bans discrimination against LGBT people in the workplace.

"I know if it comes up for a vote in the house it will pass," said Rep. Pocan.  "There's 195 bi-partisan co-sponsors to the law.  Our job now is to somehow convince the Speaker to be the speaker for the entire body and not just the Tea Party like he did during the shutdown."

Capitol City Sunday airs at 9:00 a.m. on WKOW 27.
