Warning about products made by Garden Fresh Foods

MADISON (WKOW) -- If you have food made by Garden Fresh Foods, state officials warn not to eat it.

Food safety officials at the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection report there may be possible Listeria contamination in the company's food.

Garden Fresh initially recalled some of the products October, but it has since expanded the recall to now include ready-to-eat salads, slaws, dips and spreads.

While the company has not received any reports of illness yet, officials say precautions are still necessary. This type of Listeria can lead to serious and sometimes fatal infections in people with low immune systems, like children, the elderly and pregnant women. Short-term symptoms can include a fever, headache, nausea and diarrhea.

If you do have food made by Garden Fresh Foods, officials recommend returning them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
