No suspects sought in Waukesha Co. teen's disappearance

TOWN OF GENESSEE (WKOW) -- Authorities say they're not seeking anyone involved in the disappearance of a 15-year-old Waukesha County girl who turned up safe in Chicago.

The Waukesha County Sheriff's Office and family held a news conference Saturday outside Kathryn Stalbaum's home. Investigators say she was in good physical condition when she approached a Chicago police officer Friday evening, asking for help.

Stalbaum went missing Tuesday after not showing up for school at Kettle Moraine High School in Wales. She told a friend she was biking to school, but authorities found her bicycle miles away near Waukesha Memorial Hospital.

Authorities believe Stalbaum left her home alone. Investigators are waiting to ask her detailed questions about why she went to Chicago, how she got there and what she did since she disappeared.

"We need to give Kathryn, the family and the detectives time to process the events of the last four days, it is important for the community to know that we are not looking for any other person or persons involved in this event at this time," says Inspector Eric Severson, with Waukesha County Sheriff's Office.

Severson says Stalbaum was reunited with her parents shortly after midnight.
