DEFOREST (WKOW) -- Police in DeForest are looking for a man they say tried to rob the Heartland Credit Union Monday afternoon.

Officers were called to the credit union on Vinburn Road around 12:40 p.m.

Police say a man handed the clerk a note asking for money. They say he left without getting any cash and hopped into a vehicle and took off.

Police say the suspect did not show a gun.

No one was hurt.

Officers say the suspect is a black man, 5'10''-6', 230 to 250 lbs., and wearing a dark-colored hooded jacket, dark jeans, pink gloves and tan-colored work boots. They say he pulled the hood over his head and wore a mask.

Police Chief Robert Henze says the attempted robbery was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.

Anyone with information about the suspect or crime should call the DeForest Police Department at 846-6756 or the Crime Tip anonymous number at 846-6699.
