Anonymous donor challenges the United Way to raise $10,500

Eau Claire (WQOW) - An anonymous donor has pledged $10,500 to the United Way of the greater Chippewa Valley.

This is what's at stake.  The money would help kick start The Successful Children's Network. The network will target children from low income families from their infant years until they're five.

By creating a network of services, the United Way says it can provide more comprehensive support and close the gaps in service before they go off to school.

"Look at what impacts a person's life and what will become obstacles to a good quality of life," James Peters director of Marketing at United Way said. "Successful children's Network is a program that is specifically looking at starting out a lifeline on a proper course."

The money is a challenge grant.  That means if the United Way can raise $10,500 the private donor will match the money.  The United Way hopes to establish The Children's Network early next year.
