MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- Monday, Milwaukee police shot and killed a suspect after he allegedly tried to carjack a vehicle at gunpoint.

Shawn Rieves, 17, was killed inside a bus transit center in downtown Milwaukee.

Investigators said they hoped to review surveillance video, however, the transit center's system was not in operation at the time of the incident.

Rieves was armed with a semi-automatic handgun when he tried to force his way into a vehicle Monday morning.  As the driver fled, Rieves fired one shot and missed.

The driver immediately called 911 and provided a detailed description.  Responding officers found him in the center a short time later and shot him after he allegedly ignored orders to drop his weapon.

WISN in Milwaukee states the three officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative duty, per policy.
