Plea bargain reached in employee theft case

Eau Claire (WQOW) - An Eau Claire store clerk accused of stealing thousands of dollars in merchandise after learning she was about to be fired has agreed to  pay restitution as part of a plea bargain.

Katie Denn will repay more than $2600.  She was working at the mega holiday on Jeffers Road when the merchandise went missing.  Police say Denn told them she was angry because she found out she was about to lose her job and it was her way of "making a statement".

Denn also has to do community service. The felony charge will be reduced to an ordinance violation in two years if she does not commit any more crimes.
