Board approves rezoning for strip club

Rusk County (WQOW) - A county vote unlocks the door for a strip club, but it's not all the way open yet.  On Tuesday, the Rusk County Board approved a rezoning request in the Town of Flambeau, north of Ladysmith.  The vote was 17 to 1.

A board representative says, before the vote, they were advised by their attorney about the impact the First Amendment, specifically the freedom of expression, has on a case like this.  The vote helps pave the way for a club to open, but there are a couple of more things that must happen first.

On Wednesday, a zoning committee will take up a conditional use permit.  The county board also says there may be a setback issue that has to be resolved as well.  A board representative says the owner of the proposed strip club wants to open in time for the gun deer season, but they don't see that happening.
