Health Sec. to address troubled federal exchange launch in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is scheduled to visit Milwaukee Friday, where she'll visit a clinic and talk about the troubled launch of the federal health care marketplace.

The agency says Sebelius plans to visit the Progressive Community Health Centers clinic at 1:00 p.m. and meet with local consumers planning to enroll in Wisconsin's health insurance exchange. She also plans to highlight ways Wisconsin residents can learn more about the online marketplace.

Earlier this week, the federal government released disappointing enrollment numbers in the month since was launched. Seven-hundred-thousand Wisconsin residents were expected to shop for coverage through the exchange, but only 877 managed to get all the way through and select an insurance plan as of November 2.

Sebelius is scheduled to visit the Progressive Community Health Centers clinic at 1 p.m.
