Suspect in custody for series of bomb threats

Waupun (WKOW) --  Waupun police say they've arrested a man in a string of at least 10 bomb threats that have forced local businesses to evacuate and left some people skittish about going downtown.

Deputy Police Chief Scott Louden says a 31-year-old Markesan man was taken into custody Wednesday evening on accusations he violated the sex offender registry rules by officiating some sporting events involving minors. WLUK-TV reports officials say the man, during questioning, admitted involvement in making the bomb threats.

Louden says even though no bombs have ever been found, authorities had to respond in full force each time. The threats were phoned into businesses, a public library and hospital in three communities in recent days.
