2 men charged in strangling death of Glendale man

GLENDALE (AP) -- Two men have been charged with strangling a Glendale man to death in his own home.

According to a criminal complaint, Nicholas Paul Retzlaff, 25, and Robert Michael Christophel, 28, decided Nov. 5 to steal things from the home of 65-year-old Peter Holzberger. It says they tied him up and carried him to a basement bedroom where they used boxes, clothing and other items from the cluttered home to conceal his body.
After a friend reported Holzberger missing, police searched his home Nov. 10 but did not find him until they returned three days later.
Both suspects are being held in the Milwaukee County Jail. They were charged Friday with first-degree intentional homicide and burglary. Online court records don't list an attorney for either man.
