MADISON, WI (WKOW) -- Verona sophomore Beata Nelson broke two state records, and helped her team to another first place finish in the WIAA Division 1 State Swimming Championships Saturday.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Nelson finished first with a time of 52.06 seconds, smashing the previous state record of 54.55 seconds.
Nelson anchored the 200-yard freestyle relay, helping the Wildcats to a first place finish with a time of 1:33.70.
Nelson set the state record in the 100-yard backstroke last year with a time of 53.73 seconds. This year, she improved to 53.19 seconds to set a new record.
