MARSHALL (WKOW) -- Fans packed the Marshall basketball gymnasium on Sunday to see one of their own sign to play at the next level. Cardinal senior Cam Ward signed his National Letter of Intent to play college basketball at the University of Vermont beginning next fall. Ward is only the second player in school history to sign with a Division-One program for basketball.
"I'm feeling very blessed," Ward said. "The coaches and everything I've had throughout the years to push me to be my best to get me where I'm going right now which is Vermont."
Ward had looked all around, including Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Boston University, but decided to become a Catamount.
"I'm excited to get there. Their fans really support their program, which is just like Marshall and UW-Madison, so it was the closest I could get to home."
