DNR offers ways to find places to hunt

Eau Claire (WQOW) – The start to Wisconsin's gun-deer season is less than a week away and if you are still looking for a place to hunt, the Department of Natural Resources can help.

The DNR's website offers a number of ways to locate land, both public and private, that is open to hunters.  You can search through millions of acres of land by different categories such as proximity to a city, county or type of property.  You can also view detailed maps of the locations.

"It's our most common question this time of year from the public.  People are looking for places to hunt, that's why we've utilized these types of programs to try to expand the opportunities for hunters to get on to these properties," says DNR Biologist Bill Hogseth.  "People who are interested in finding the exact locations can use these different mapping tools that the DNR has created and are online."

The DNR will also be hosting an online chat to answer questions about to access these hunting lands.  The chat will be this Wednesday, November 20th, starting at noon.

To join the chat, visit the DNR website and search: "ask the experts."
