Felon shot at Children's Hospital of WI appears in court

MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- The 22-year-old Milwaukee man shot at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin last week makes his court appearance.

Ashanti Hendricks was wheeled into a Milwaukee County courtroom Tuesday morning.  He was handcuffed to his wheelchair and his left hand and arm were bandaged.  Hendricks is charged with bail jumping, a felon in possession of a gun and resisting an officer.

Last Thursday, officers received a tip that Hendricks was at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.  He was wanted for being a felon in possession of a gun and was believed to be carrying a weapon at the hospital.

When confronted on the 7th floor, Hendricks eluded officers.  Milwaukee police then fired and struck Hendricks' arm twice.

The Milwaukee JournalSentinel reports a criminal complaint says Hendricks was armed with a loaded semi-automatic weapon.
