Darlington falls in Division 6 title game

MADISON (AP) -- Jacob Van Asten passed for three touchdowns and ran for two more as Shiocton capped a perfect season with a 35-0 win over Darlington in the WIAA Division 6 championship at Camp Randall Stadium.

Shiocton (14-0) stopped Darlington in the red zone twice in the first quarter before breaking loose behind Van Asten, who alternates between quarterback and running back.

Van Asten scored on runs of 4 and 2 yards and connected on a 35-yard TD pass to Patrick Brouillard to pace Shiocton to a 19-0 halftime lead.

Shiocton outscored its four previous playoff opponents 196-6 and allowed just 22 points during the regular season

Darlington was appearing in the title game for the first time since losing in the final in 1997.
