Large marijuana bust includes THC-laced chocolate bars

MARSHFIELD (WKOW) -- Marshfield police says months of investigating led to a large marijuana bust that included chocolate bars infused with marijuana and 11.5 pounds of pot.

Police seized the drugs and arrested two people Tuesday night, following nearly simultaneous traffic stops in the town of Rock.

Neither suspect has been formally charged.

Marshfield Police Lt. Rick Grazma told News-Herald Media Friday the suspects had sold large quantities of marijuana to undercover officers in the past, and the department had received information they would be transporting a large quantity to central Wisconsin.

"We don't see a lot of marijuana-infused chocolates," Gramza said. "I would say it's concerning to me. Not only is it maybe making ingesting marijuana a little more intriguing to a younger generation, but it also makes it more difficult to identify when someone recently has ingested a controlled substance like marijuana when it's in a candy form."

The value of everything seized could be as much as $88,000, Gramza said.
