UPDATE: ER reopens after car crashes into hospital


WISCONSIN RAPIDS (WKOW) -- The Riverview Hospital emergency room has reopened after a car drove into the hospital Saturday afternoon.

The ER was closed for about eight hours.

Officials say they are not yet releasing information about the condition of the driver and four people inside the hospital who were injured in the crash.

Wisconsin Rapids Police say they are still investigating, but that the crash may have been caused by a medical emergency.


WISCONSIN RAPIDS (WKOW) -- Five people are hurt when a car drove into an emergency room.

Wisconsin Rapids police tell WAOW-TV the emergency room at Riverview Hospital is closed indefinitely while damage is being assessed.

Officials say a man who was driving the vehicle that crashed through the wall of the building was taken to another hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Four people inside the hospital were also hurt.

Police believe the crash may have been caused by medical issues.

Patients needing ER care are being directed to a hospital nearby, in Stevens Point or Marshfield.
