It's much like a pop quiz in sixth hour math.
If you're a middle-schooler, the odds are already stacked against you.
Up way too early. Classes all day. Homework at night.
And then there's that "growing up" thing.
Doesn't leave a twelve-year-old much time to chase dreams, does it?
Menomonie's Jazzmyn Hoff is your average pre-teen. She likes to scrapbook. She plays on the school volleyball team. She has dreams of being a hairstylist one day.
She's also on her way to California to compete for the national title of "American Miss Top Model."
She recently completed in the pre-teen division in the entire state of Wisconsin - in the categories of "Queen," casual wear modeling and photogenic - finishing in the top 3 in the "top model photo shoot."
Jazzmyn is soft of voice and sweet of smile. She says the chance to compete at speaking and modeling helps her build confidence for what comes after school: social skills, job interviews...life.
In our interview, you get to hear her reflect on what it's like to walk the catwalk, handle the bright lights, and grow up in the confidence that dreaming big is for twelve-year-olds too.
