Heroin o.d. causes local man to fall unconscious while driving

MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police received several calls from numerous citizens after a car came to a grinding halt in the middle of traffic on Acewood Boulevard Friday afternoon.

The incident happened near Cottage Grove Road when the driver of the vehicle went unconscious and a front seat passenger quickly threw the car into park to stop.  The passenger then pulled the driver to a grassy area where Madison Fire Department paramedics were able to administer Narcan, reversing the effects of a heroin overdose.

The driver, 41-year-old Okoto A.U. Torti, was cited for OWI, possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating after suspension, non-registration of auto, and failure to transfer vehicle title.
