Thorp man dies after Clark County crash

Clark County (Press Release) -  The Clark County Sheriff's Department responded to a two vehicle crash on Monday, November 18, 2013.  The crash occurred at about 10:15 pm on STH 73 about one half mile north of Pine Road, Township of Thorp.

Investigation showed that the deceased, David E. Prokopiak, 49, was driving southbound on STH 73 in a 1996 Ford F350 truck.  Prokopiak struck a truck/cattle trailer that had pulled out from a driveway.  This vehicle was a 2009 Kenworth and was being operated by Jonathan D. Loomis, 29, Altoona.  Prokopiak was flown from the scene and died on Sunday, December 1 from his injuries.  Loomis was not injured.  Neither speed nor alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.

This is the 9th traffic fatality in Clark County for 2013.  The Thorp Fire and Ambulance and Ministry St Joseph's Hospital air medical transport assisted at the scene.
