One driver arrested, one flown to hospital after crash


Buffalo County (Press Release) - On Saturday, November 30, 2013 at approximately 7:30 p.m., the Buffalo County Sheriff's Department received a report of a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of County Rd. D and McDonough Rd., located in the Town of Nelson.

Upon arrival, it was established that an eastbound Ford truck, driven by Aaron A. Carrier, 28, of Eau Claire, struck a westbound Pontiac, driven by David J. Brion, 59, of Nelson. The collision took place in the westbound lane of traffic.  The eastbound truck was left of center of the roadway.

Carrier was subsequently arrested by the State Patrol for OWI causing injury. Carrier was not injured. Brion was transported to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Wabasha, MN, and later airlifted to Mayo in Rochester. 

The crash is still being investigated by the Buffalo County Sheriff's Department. Reconstruction of the crash is being done by the State Patrol.  Crews were assisted at the scene by Nelson Fire Department and Alma Ambulance.
