Veterans steady backcourt for No. 8 Wisconsin

Posted:

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A veteran backcourt trio has helped No. 8 Wisconsin get off to its best start in 20 years.

Senior Ben Brust, and juniors Traevon Jackson and Josh Gasser have played key roles in helping the Badgers begin the season 8-0 heading into Wednesday's Big Ten/ACC Challenge game at Virginia.

Wisconsin is scoring 76.8 points per game, but that doesn't mean the Badgers have turned into a run-and-gun team.

The Badgers are getting more possessions per game but averaging 1.2 points each possession, the most efficient team in coach Bo Ryan's 13 years in Madison. Offensive efficiency has been a Wisconsin staple.

The three-guard look helps with the pace. All five starters are averaging at least 10.4 points a game.
