Eau Claire (WQOW) - While some lakes are frozen, others are still getting there.
Today, Half Moon Lake got a visit from area rescuers who decided to put its freezing waters to the test. The Eau Claire Fire Department went through rescue scenarios of people falling through the ice at Half Moon Lake. Some areas of the lake are not completely frozen and crews are advising people to take caution.
Tim Deziel, chief of the Eau Claire Fire Department, said, "Just like you saw, there's still places like we were working on today that has no ice. That's why in fact we were using it too. So it can vary from place to place, and that's just like a lake or a river. One spot may be good does not mean that other spots are going to be."
The fire department suggests you know the area where you will be spending time before heading out on the ice.
