UPDATE: Authorities identify Cornell woman in fatal crash


Chippewa County (Press Release) - The driver of the traffic fatality on Monday December 16th on S-HWY 27 just north of 170th Ave in the Town of Arthur is identified as 34-year-old Sharlene M. Galster of 312 South 6th Street Cornell, WI.

The vehicle involved was a 2002 Chrysler Blue Town & Country Mini Van. The vehicle was south bound on S-Hwy 27 when it left the roadway and traveled into the west ditch overturning. The driver was ejected from the vehicle due to the fact she was not wearing a safety belt.

The accident is under investigation to determine what may have caused her to lose control of the vehicle and leave the roadway.


Chippewa County (Press Release) - The Chippewa County Sheriff's Department along with the Wisconsin State Patrol are investigating a traffic accident that occurred Monday morning on S-Hwy 27 just north of 170th Street in the Town of Arthur that claimed the life of a 34-year-old Cornell women.

The accident was reported to the Sheriff's Department at 8:39 a.m. The investigation at this time indicated the vehicle was south bound on S-HWY 27 just north of 170th Street when it entered the west ditch and overturned. The driver was thrown from the vehicle and was located under her vehicle shortly after.

The Cornell women was the only occupant of the vehicle. The accident investigation is ongoing to determine the cause as weather/road conditions were not a factor.


Chippewa County (WQOW) - A woman has died after a crash in Chippewa County.

It happened around 8:30 a.m. Monday morning on Highway 27, south of Cornell.  Authorities say the woman was driving a minivan that rolled.  She was thrown from the vehicle and then pinned underneath it.
